FC Bunyodkor started the AFC Champions League Group Stage with a loss to Al Ahli Saudi FC

Saudi Arabia champions Al Ahli FC made a winning start to their 2017 AFC Champions League campaign on Tuesday when Christian Gross’ side handed Uzbekistan’s Bunyodkor a 2-0 defeat at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

Syrian striker Omar Al Somah gave Al Ahli the perfect start when he capitalized on a defensive mix-up to open the scoring for the home side after just 13 minutes.

And eight minutes into the second half, Salman Al Moasher doubled his side’s lead when he sprinted in at the far post to head home Ioannis Fetfatzidis’ cross from the right as Al Ahli cruised to the win and top spot in Group C after the first round of matches.
